How big is big enough?
Sheesh! Things are getting crazy in the good ol' U.S. of A.
Okay, we had the Explorer. Then the Expedition. Still too small, so we got the Expedition.
F-150 won't do it. Gotta have something bigger! Bigger is better, right?
So we get the Hummer. Yeah, now that's a REAL vehicle. Forget the wimpy stuff like a Navigator!
But wait, the Hummer isn't big enough.
Ladies and gentlemen....please meet your new vehicle!
That should end in "we got the EXCURSION!"
Expedition wasn't big enough!
Looks like a sawed-off sixteen wheeler! Well, it's the Texan--err--American way!
(shaking head and walking away)

Do you have to go to an 18 weeler school to learn to drive that thing? Damn! its almost as UGLY as one of those honda pope mobile lookin things (or an Aztek). Makes a yugo look cool. That just aint right.
7 miles per gallon! LOL! Gotta love it! No thanks. I'll keep my car, which is a diesel btw. I wouldn't buy another SUV unless I was getting free gasoline with it.

Jesus christ that's huge. up to $115 000.... sounds good.
I want the Canyonero from the Simpons. Heh-heh. Just kidding. We have an old buick and a small Toyota 4-door, both sedans, and they suit us just fine. I can't understand why anyone would want an SUV. I park frequently in underground garages in the city and the Toyota econocar just rules down there!
Let the SUV guys forfeit their keys to the valet. I'll squeeze in behind that column over there, thank-you very much. OK... most of the time I drive the Buick because it's the cast-off car I have to drive most of the time, but at least it's not an SUV.
When I buy my own car, I'll have my eyes on a hybrid; but I'd really rather just move into the city and not drive at all except when I rent a car to go on weekend trips.
The vehicle in the linked story looks like it's targeted at people who always wanted to drive an 18-wheeler, but weren't inclined to become commercial drivers. I can see this maybe appealing to people who have a reason to haul a lot of stuff, but not a commercial trucking license. Either that or they built it to keep in step with the tax incentive code with regards to trucks--for those not in the know:
The US tax code has a deduction for trucks used for business. Large SUVs exploit this as a loophole--many wealthy people buy SUVs for the tax advantage even though they are not the commercial trucks for which the deduction was originally intended.
Anyway, nice to see I can agree with Rokker on something.
They're going to have to do a lot better than that if they want to make a vehicle with the class and majesty of an 89' Nissan Maxima, white in color.
No thanks, I'll keep my 88 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z, it's a 4 cyl turbo intercooled, puts out v-8 power, and still turns hi 20's-low 30's mpg. I ran from Los Angeles, to Seattle and back, and I averaged 34-35 mpg, and that is with a heavy foot. Not to mention it takes curves like nothing else, and there is no way that monster truck can keep up with it. If I need something to haul, I use my 89 dodge caravan, yes also a turbocharged 4 cyl, even with a load, and being a box areodynamically, I still average in the low 20 mpg range. And I can carry alot of stuff!
I love to drive, and look at it as a fun event, but I don't like big sloppy handleing, monster trucks. I'll keep my cars thanks.
I heard about this on the news. Wow 7 miles per gallon.
I'll seriously consider it and/or a hummer when
they get 500+ miles per gallon. In the meantime with the
price of gas i'm concerned about how much it costs to fill
the tank on my Mercury Sable. Especially where 1. I have
to heat my home this winter and 2. who knows what world
events will do the price of oil? $3.00/gallon? $5.00/gallon?
$10.00/gallon. I still remember after I grew my hair long we
had 2 1/2 hour gas lines in the 70s (if the station even
had gas). And then you'd be waiting in line for gas and
they would raise the price while you were still in line.
I happened before, it could happen again.
...hear the glaciers melting.
ROFLMAO That is hilarious. What we need are vehicles that can carry their own weight in people. Why not a 1000 pound car that can carry 5 200 pound adults? This is very doable with 21st century materials and technology. Absalom
To keep this on topic, has anyone ever washed their hair in petrol. I'll go first. No.
I accidently splashed my best friend with petrol (gasoline on this side of the pond) once. I was working on a Chevy and forgot to connect the line back to the fuel pump, turned it over, and he just happened to be in the wrong spot. We were d*** lucky there was no fire.
A lot of it went in his face and some of it probably went in his hair. We rushed him into the shower right away and fortunately he was OK and of course I was really, really sorry about all of that.
You'll be happy to know I don't work on cars any more.
Absolutely rediculous! Just wait till a couple of rappers start driving them, they'll become all the rage. We are paying a mighty high price for all this oil we're using. And I don't just mean financially.
