Whats up everyone? Im gonna try to narrow it down to what kind of brush to use for the future, so I could really use your opinions here!
My hair is a little past my lip and Ive already found alot of broken, and stretched hairs that frizz out after I wash and air dry. More especially on the outer layer on top. The under layer however, looks great. (This is one of the reasons I cut my hair years ago)
Anyway, I was recently using a Goody smoothing (nylon) brush, but Im guessing this is way too strong for my hair. I also use these "bone combs", that dont have seams in between, which arent supposed to "shred" hair when wet combing. They're a bit sharp on the points though.
I have alot of hair, but its very fine, and straight so when it breaks it looks awful and sticks out all over the place. Ive trimmed several of them today. If I dont brush my hair though, it looks unkempt and messy, especially at this stage. Any thoughts what might be suitable for my hair type?
(Also, I am using conditioner on ends, and sometimes I apply it to the entire back of my head)
Much Appreciation for your thoughts.
I suggest you do the following things:
Get yourself a wide-tooth comb that is intended for detangling.
Always detangle gently. Detangling is very hard on the hair, so you should do whatever you need to to keep your hair from tangling.
Use conditioner every time. If you don't like the one you use enough to use it on your whole head, find a different one.
Get some jojoba and apply very lightly to your damaged ends.
Put off that trim for a couple of months, unless you can find someone to carefully remove only the damaged part.
Thanks Katherine! You are very helpful. Do you use conditioner on your entire head also? Ive only been putting it on the ends.
My hair is very long, but yes, I put conditioner on my entire head.
