Picture Purged
Hello all.
I just returned from a trip to Edinburgh. Had a great time. At one of the shops specializing in Highland gifts and history, they had one of those places where you can get in a costume and have a picture taken. I decided "why not?"
Now I know you Brits will recognize that the costumes are not totally authentic, but it was close enough to give the appearance. A note about my hair -- I had been wearing it in a braid all day long. Once I got into the costume, all I did was shake the braid loose. I didn't comb it or anything; just let it be kind of wild.
There was a group of Asian tourists walking through the area that got very excited about seeing this large wild-haired man emerge from the dressing room carrying a big-a$$ sword. It seems I am now featured on a lot of vacation photos in Japan or somewhere...
Methinks the picture is wonderful, William!
I think it's a cool pic! The hair looks dayum good! Oh, you do too!
Wouldn't it be funny to see your face plastered on a web site or even better yet, a brochure?
Hmmmmm.
Nice legs....
Actually quite distinguished! Thanks for sharing the photo. Looks great!
I like the overall costume, but was wondering if the kilt may
be just a tad bit short?
I'm no expert on these things, but a couple of inches longer
might have created a better 'balance.'
Anyway, you look like a character right out of the history books...
and I would love to know exactly what those Japanese tourists
were saying about you!
Actually, depending on the time period, it may very well have been correct. As a SCAdian, I can tell you that it was not unheard of for kilts to be mid-thigh in the past.
Nate
I suspect it is a costume that fits the "average" sized man. Being a larger man, it tended to be shorter on me.
Looks Great and What Fun !!
Thanks for sharing..
Looks great! :-)
New Hampshire Highland Games are this week, will be seeing plenty of kilted folk around here soon.
