I have just started to grow out my hair. And right now i dont even know how much hair i got. i jus got an haircut about two weeks ago and i shaved my head skintight all around, so that i was practically BALD! I cut it because i just couldnt stand brushing it all the time. Now all these girls are telling me to grow it out becuase they want to braid it. I was wondering how long it would take. I have very thick, oily hair. how do i control that? Thank you to all those who reply.
Firstly, growing your hair out takes a lot of time and dedication. From a skinhead, it will most likely take you about a year and a half to get to shoulder length.
My advice is not to grow your hair... it seems like you're quite fickle, and growing your hair just for the ladies (while understandable) isn't the best reason to be doing it.
However, it's your choice and I hope things go well for you if you feel you have the determination to reach that goal.

Good luck on your quest. The following is not meant to be discouragement as I haven't any idea how girls will react to your long hair, but I've experienced no admiration having grown it out beyond friends who already know me saying it looks okay. This really doesn't qualify as positive reenforcment, though I should probably feel lucky I'm not moving backwards. Anyhow, since you do have people waiting to braid, you may be in a different situation entirely. So my advice to you is mark your calendar around from the 7th to 12th month from now with a red pen, and swear to yourself you won't get it cut during this time. Adieu.
