Ok, first weekend of the Texas Renaissance Festival is over. Business could have been better, but it was "half-priced tickets" weekend (meaning a bunch of cheap-ohs, lol).
Anyways, it feels good to work at a place where probably 85% of the male employees have shoulder length hair or longer (not to mention a couple of absolutely beautiful dread-heads).
Anyways, the down side to this is that the workers are all required to wear some kind of head-covering, scarf, hat or whatever. Anyways, I chose the method that would still allow my hair to be seen, and went with a long gypsy style bandana. Some friendly soul took a couple of photos there and sent me a copy, so here they are.

That is a pretty cool look for you man. Is it hard to get your hair through the back of the bandana or is it a pretty easy process?
It's rather easy: I just put the scarf to my forehead, flop my hair forward while bending over, and tie it at the neck.
You hair looks great. It's really gotten longer - very nice.

Thanks, btw how long is your hair now? You seem to have one of those faster than average growth rates. . .
Well I have measured it today, and I was very surprised at the outcome. I had to measure it again, just to make sure and the results are as follows:
3.5 months ago my hair's length was at 36cm (about 14 inches)
Today it measured at 70cm (about 27.3 inches)
So basically in this period my hair has grown an extra 34cm (about 13.3 inches)
Btw, I dunno if my convertions are correct but anyways...
So, I'm very pleased with it. I don't know why it's grown so fast actually, but hey, I'm not complaining!
The only thing is, now that my hair is growing longer, it's forming more "locks" from the middle part of my head right to the bottom, almost like "twirls". I guess it's my natural hair style.
I haven't had time to update my hair progress page, but I'll soon will.

!!!! Your hair grew 13.3 inches in 3.5 months???? HOLY CRAP!
LOL, oh well, I've always had this really, but this time I was surprised at the rate it was growing because I never really measured my hair untill I joined here. So it's nice to know now. I've gotten really good advice here.
Thanks guys!

WOW!!! That makes Wolfy's and my hair growth rate look pathetic in comparison!!! It's impossible for hair to grow so fast??????
Sorry TLG, but I'm like OMG right here!!!
LOL, I replied to your post at the top. :o)
Hey! I will see you there the weekend after this weekend.
I have grown a beard just for Ren Fest.
Your hair looks good. Bummer about the mandatory head gear.
I look forward to meeting you.
Great, I look forward to meeting you!
looking good! good job not cutting your hair :)

Many thanks! I've been continually journeying towards less and less maintainance, washing only once a week, very little detangling, and the detangling that I do do is just with my fingers.
Be well.

Hey, 'twas nice meeting you there. I liked the hair a lot, too. Would consider getting a bandana like that, because it was really cool, but I don't know if it'd work quite as well with wavy hair as it does with curly hair like yours.
I added in my part, at least. *grin* Been practicing the contact juggling a bit, though it's not in any way very good yet.. But I'm gonna keep working at it.

Good to meet you as well! I also met a female lurker from this board who lives near the fair.
And yes, you did do your part to help the business side of opening weekend, many thanks!
Take care and see you around.

I'm curious about the having to wear a head covering thing. I just visited the Kansas City Ren Fest last weekend (going back next weekend) and they don't require head coverings there, even for food service workers.
Just wondering what's up with that.
What's up with it is that the owner of the faire, a man who has had his name legally changed to "King George" is on a power trip, and likes to have this feeling of control. Some of the people say it's for the historical accuracy, as lice was so bad that everybody kept their head covered to keep from getting it or giving it. Whatever.

There's a possibility I might go this weekend. Anyone else?
Great! I look forward to meeting you! The "House of Play" is located in a tent near the may pole and executioner's block. You should see a bunch of people with poi on one side and a bunch with contact juggling spheres on the other.
That's poi, the twirly fun things.
That's from the ren fest last year :) You SHOULD go next weekend!
If that didn't work, here's the URL...
Poi is another manipulation form where weights (often with colored flags) are swung from the end of a lanyard, usually in pairs (one in each hand), creating rather beautiful spherical patterns around the performer.
