hey, my hair is about 11 inches long, i've been growing it for eight months, and I've never used conditioner. I've been using QUEEN HELENE'S CHOLESTEROL.
Should I go on with this or am I wrong? My hair looks great the day I use it, very "feathery", but really starts to tangle and itch the day after. I'm not sure how much you're supposed to use the stuff, so I apply it 3 or 4 times a week. Anyone have any insight?
thanks
Sure, a lot of people prefer cholesterol and/or oil over conditioner. Make sure there is no alcohol in it.
I'd say, don't use it on your scalp, and after you've rinsed it out, apply your regular conditioner.
TH INSTRUCTIONS SAY TO APPLY GENEROUSLY TO HAIR AND SCALP, ESSPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE DRY OR DAMAGED HAIR, WHICH I DO. ANY IDEA HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK I SHOULD USE IT? ALSO: CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND A GOOD SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER? I USE "CREW" - CITRUS MINT
THANKS
It doesn't matter what the instructions say to do, if it's irritating your scalp, you should avoid skin contact.
Have you also been heating it for 15 to 30 minutes as the directions say to do? This will increase the exposure of your skin, which for you appears to be a bad thing.
Most people use this product once a week or less. I don't recommend it to guys, because it's so perfumey. Hollywood Beauty makes a carrot oil/cholesterol cream deep conditioner that is easier to apply and has less fragrance.
You need to apply a conditioner/detangler every time you wash your hair. A deep treatment is not a substitute, especially this one, which I have found has no conditioning or detangling properties.
I've found lots of good, cheap conditioners out there, such as VO5 Free Me Freesia or Hydrators, Suave Daily Clarifying Conditioner, and White Rain Extra Body. These are very light. You should apply a drop or so of jojoba to your ends after your hair is dry and brush it through.
If you want more expensive conditioners, you'll have to read others' posts. I'm too much of a cheapskate to switch to something more expensive when I've got a system that works for me.
