Folks,
Currently the "A&E" cable channel is showing episodes of their "Hornblower" series. These are new tales using the ones originally written by C.S. Forrester for the base. They are about the adventures of Horatio Hornblower's service in the British Royal Navy during the Napoleonic era. Aside from being entertaining to watch, they are also filled with Longhairs.
In fact, it is a rare man seen on that show, who does not have a full mane of hair. Worn mostly tied back in a tail and rarely - if ever - covered by the white wigs of the period, the Longhair in this series is very refreshing to see. It is not paid much attention because it was so normal for the period - and that is exactly why it is so special. It was part of everyday life and it was the shorthair who was in the minority.
So, have a look yourself. I think A&E is still running it and will undoubtedly do so again in the future.
