When I tie my hair in a tail, all the short hairs (the new hair underneath) frizz out in all directions, working themselves free and because my hair is curly, won't lie flat. I just wanted to know if you guys have that too? The problem also is that I hace a lot of these 'shorties', especially at the sides and temples.
I have this prob too. I started using a product called Infusium 23 complete frizz control treatment. It works, not really 100% but it helps. The stuff is really expensive though, $5 for a tiny 1.7 OZ bottle.
I have very curly hair, and have these flyaways as well. Usually I don't worry about them, but if I'm going to something formal (wedding, funeral, etc. .) then I will take a small amount of conditioner, about the size of a quarter, and spread it over the surface of my hair, so the conditioner acts like a gel, but won't damage your hair.
Othertimes I'll just put the conditioner in while in the shower and not rinse. . .same effect.
Good luck!

Yes, I have that problem as well. Usually I just let them go, but heavy conditioning (as That Ball Guy mentioned) or some kind of gel work to keep the little guys down. Also I found that parting my hair down the middle instead of pulling straight back keeps shorter hairs under the longer ones better.
