I'm thinking of getting one, but im not entirely sure what to expect. Looked online for like before and after pics but couldnt find any : ( I know what one is... its just I wanna see a darn pic!! Also I have no idea how long/short your hair has to be/can be in order to get one. I guess as long as it can go around the roller its long enough... it would be terribly embarrassing tho to go to a salon ask for one and they're like "hhhmmm well we cant do much with that..."
Just go ask them. If your hair isn't long enough, they should be able to tell you how long it needs to be without making you feel uncomfortable about it. If they can't handle it, don't go back.
I've never gotten one, but my aunt has, and she said it doesn't change how your hair looks very much. So maybe it's not too surprising that it's hard to find before and after pictures. Like any perm, a body perm weakens your hair, so it can be useful for making hard-to-style hair more amenable to styling.
If you want a particular style for your hair, I'd recommend going to a stylist and discussing the options for getting that style given your natural hair type, rather than deciding in advance you need a body perm.
Remember though that stylists don't think in terms of people who want to keep growing their hair over a long period of time. It doesn't matter very much if a perm might damage your hair if that hair will be cut off as your hair grows out. But obviously you want to avoid anything that might damage hair that you don't plan to cut off for a long time.
