In four months, the very ends of my hair will be 3 years old
and there are absolutely NO split ends. In fact, my hair has never looked better!
The ONLY difference I can see is that the last few inches are a bit
lighter in color than the rest of my hair.
I have ALWAYS 'babied' my hair by always using a conditioner
after shampooing.
I also do 'conditioner washes'...that is, using only a conditioner to wash my hair
between my regular shampooings.
I never use a blow dryer. Instead, I squeeze my hair inside
a bath towel
and then allow it to air dry.
When sleeping, I always keep my hair restrained with at LEAST 2 hair ties.
Hope the above info is of some help to you.
Blessings & good luck to ALL!
Congrats Lucksking! 3 years is a good long time! Are you going to be posting any pictures soon(please!)?
I'm going to try to get some nice shots right after washing
so that all the waves, curls & ringlets will show up nicely.
Thanx for asking!

Keeping it restrained, eh? I've done everything except that. Also, I didn't condition between shampoonings. I'll try that! Thanks!
Sorry I didn't include a pic of my hair,
but I will do so soon.
Your hair seems to be in great shape and looks very nice,
but, yes, I would suggest restraining your hair in some way
at least while sleeping.
This will prevent unnecessary 'wear & tear' from all the tossing & turning.
You MUST be doing something right to avoid any and all split ends. Well done, old bean. Keep it growing.
I never realized, until now, that split ends were such a concern
to some Members here!
My hair is extremely thick...not only that, but my individual hair
shafts are quite thick also.
Before I stopped getting my hair cut, I was told by every
hairstylist, that cutting my hair was like cutting three heads of hair...
and that I was the only customer who would actually make their fingers hurt! (sorry...he..he...)
Maybe thick hair shafts are less prone to splitting?? I don't
know.
But it's been almost THREE years since my last cutting
and the ends of my hair shafts (just checked them under a magnifying
glass) are still showing the original blunt cut from the stylist's scissors.
Will post pics as soon as I am able.
I will also try to take a close up shot of the ENDS of my hairs
just to show what I am talking about.
...if you had thick hair shafts. Are you blonde? I think I read somewhere that blonde hair has the thickest shaft but fewer hairs per square inch, or maybe that's readheads. Anyway, you have been blessed. It appears that you were destined to wear your hair as nature intended.
Not blond. From a distance, one would say I am a brunette,
but up close I have may different colors: a few blond,
some red, lots of brown.
As you mentioned--and I agree--the red strands seem to be the
thickest and strongest.
Years ago I had a beard and there was a superabundance of reds
and blonds amongst the browns.
But after just 2 years, I HAD to shave it off because
my hair was SO COURSE that it actually irritated my facial skin!
In fact, it got so bad that I used to tug at my beard
hairs infrustration, when my skin got itchy and irritated.
I suppose the thicker one's hair is (hair in general and
also the individual hair shafts)the worse is the AWKWARD PHASE!
tHE FLIPS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL.
With time and length, though, the natural beauty of the hair
waves and texures take over, and then one can't help but
notice the admiring glances that come one's way.
All in all, we have to live with the hair we are born with.
Still, there are products out there that will help to enhance what we do have.
Thanks for your questions.
