I think I may be on to something here. Maybe it will be of use for other people on the board?
Lately as you may know, I've been getting a problem with buildup. I try and wash and condition my hair with very moisturizing things, and often this means little or no sulfates, and a high concentration of 'cones.
All my life I thought I had dry/damged hair, and all my life I washed my hair every single day, sometimes more than once a day. It wasn't until this summer that I started washing every other day, and this seems to work all right as my hair isn't too dry anymore. But after a while of doing this, my hair seems to get built up really easily.
My latest theory is that maybe now that I wash every other day, my hair is "normal," and not "dry/damaged." And that using these dry/damaged products just makes my hair get built up too easily, which results in stopping my conditioner from working right.
What do you guys think? Maybe someone like Ste has an idea what's going on. Feel free to comment, anyone.
Well, I have heard from many sources that the natural oils produced by your scalp are actually very healthy. When these natural oils build up too much, that is when you get greasy looking hair. However, excessive washing will prevent any buildup of oils at all, which can also be very unhealthy for your hair.
Hello Sid,
How about trying a clarifying shampoo once or twice a week or something like that. It would rid of all the build up.
And just a little question how can you tell if you have build up in your hair? I guess I do not know what to look for.
