Hi, I am a 19 year old male, and last week I decided I would grow my hair long. Right now I have really plain short hair, not really any style to it. So what should I do? Should I just leave my hair as it is and grow it out. Or should I get it styled a certain way to grow it out? please help me.
dont do a thing just let it grow grow grow
Dude, you've made the decision, and that's all you have to do for now. Be prepared to go through a transitional phase, during which you'll have to decide how to handle it (which all depends on your hair type). Best of luck, and enjoy it!
Hi,
I'm 27 years old male and have grown my hair all around shoulder length
twice. For best appearance throughout the process with least cutting
i.e. shortest time I'd advice you to concentrate on growing your
front hair (bangs) long. Just trim it a little every 6 months and
keep rest of your hair at the same level as your fringe. It will
look fairly neat at all times. So you start with short (closely cropped) back and sides
and longer bangs and top, and as the hair grows longer just extend
the long hair area down until you reach your neck. After that growing
gets easy as there is only a need to trim the ends.

A good stylist can help you grow your hair out more gracefully. IMHO, shaggy, shapeless, growing-out hair is not very attractive; but tiny trims and shaping can keep you looking good while growing out. It has to do not just with taking off any split ends and evening up your hair, but also with shaping and notching the layers as they grow so they don't just hang there, but have some shape. You don't have to have it trimmed very often; every 3 months or so should do it. Be sure to tell the stylist you want it to grow long. Good luck!
