My hair is all one length and reaches just below my shoulders. I would really love to have it "flip" up a little (not an extreme flip) at the ends, without doing a lot of work with it every day. Is there a way to have it cut so that it naturally flips up? thanks in advance.
les,
There is for some straight hair. My hair is long and straight and when cut a certain way, (by a pro,) it flips up the way you describe. Remember though that the longer your hair is the heavier it is. It seems to be harder to get longer hair to flip up which doesn't make sense because the ends are still at the end!lol
Aside from going to a unisex or womens salon, try looking on the web for sites on professional salon cuts to maybe get instructions on how exactly to do it. It'd probably be pretty hard to do it yourself though! Good luck!
I'm not an expert, but I don't think hair that long can be cut in a way that would make it flip up. Just brushing it in the right way might make it flip up. You could also try drying it with the end wrapped around one of the round metal brushes used with blow dryers, with the hair going in the direction you want. You could use rollers, although they may make a more extreme flip than you want. If brushing doesn't work, I'd recommend trying both a round brush and rollers and see how well they work with your hair. I have fine chin length hair that needs some kind of styling at the ends to not look terrible. For me, a round brush works well but takes a while. Rollers are faster, but the result looks less natural, more like purposely curled hair. The next day though, it looks more normal.
I suppose if you really want a flip and don't want to spend time you could get some kind of perm, but for me I'd want to avoid putting chemicals like than on my hair, especially for just a small change.
