Folks,
Last month, I posted a question on what browser longhairs preferred and why. Thanks for your responses as my story based on my mini-surver saw print today, Tuesday December 14, 1999, in In.Tech, the computer and information technology pullout of The Star, Malaysia's leading English language daily newspaper.
To see the story online, you will have to visit our web site at http://thestar.com.my/intech, then click on "Home User" in the left sidebar and then scroll down past a Linux focus till you find a heading "Length does matter."
I've also appended the body of the text below.
Please note that it was the editor's idea to put John's name in brackets and other names -- some of which are obvious psuedonym's -- unbracketed.
Anyway, thanks once again.
Regards
Charles

Length does matter Our CHARLES F. MOREIRA is a passionate and opinionated journalist, and wanted to write about something other than the next great report-generating software utility for small and medium enterprises.
So we told him, go ahead Charles, write on an issue you feel strongly about, something of great social significance, and which could affect the nation's plans to develop an information society.
This is his story ....
SEVEN out of 11 long-haired men on the Men's Long Hair Hyperboard say their preferred browser is Netscape Navigator, while two preferred Internet Explorer and one lone individual favoured NeoPlanet.
About four of the seven say they have no choice but to use Internet Explorer at work, while a respondent going by the name ``John'' says, tongue-firmly-in-cheek, that he uses a browser which ``... does not crash at a drop of a hat.''
One of the two IE dudes, Al, says, ``Internet Explorer 5 is incredibly stable, fast and never crashes.''
SFMarkH, the lone NeoPlanet user, says, ``It's got lots of cool skins.'' NeoPlanet can be downloaded free from www.neoplanet.com.
The 11 had responded to In.Tech's question, ``What browser do longhairs prefer?'' posted on the web-based forum dedicated to all matters concerning long-haired men.
These include advice on growing hair long, haircare, discrimination against long-haired men, family and societal pressure on long-haired men to shorn their locks, the history of long hair on men, and so on.
The forum can be found here.
Nick, a 44-year-old software engineer with hair down to his back, says he mainly uses Netscape running under Linux at home, and only uses IE under Windows 95 about once a month.
``Diallers and Internet connections are handled entirely by an old 486 PC running Linux -- I won't let any Microsoft product connect to the Internet without going through a Linux firewall,'' says Nick.
``After all, I'm a Linux longhair. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with IE at work,'' he adds.
Meanwhile, Victor also uses Netscape at home and IE at work, although he says his preferred browser is the 1994 vintage NSCA Mosaic developed by the University of Illinois.
``It was the fastest browser of its time,'' he says.
The Men's Long Hair Hyperboard was created and operated by Victor Engel, a long-haired analyst/programmer with Dell Computer Corp in Round Rock, Texas.
Based upon earlier informal surveys regarding their occupations, a large proportion of ``longhairs'' who responded say they work in fields related to computers, IT and multimedia.
