Wondering if any other longhairs & like-minded folks are planning any outdoor or other interesting gatherings for this New Year's? I'm not personally interested in standing in a crowd of drunken strangers and paying enormous sums of money I don't have to mark the pass into 2000.
HOWEVER, I am thinking it would be cool to make a campfire on a beach or mountain viewpoint somewhere in the San Francisco Bay Area that night with a group of fellow longhairs
and people who favor our kind.
Sort of a bring your favorite substance party and a fairy circle (knew you'd all enjoy that!) to mark the charge into the 21st century! Bring a poem, burn a bad memory in the fire, hang out and chat and groove into the 21st century. . .
Mt Tamalpais and Muir Beach apparently will be officialy 'closed' with Nat'l Park service gates blocking the lots and road entrances there. (Thought I'd like to watch the fireworks and see the lights go out from atop the mountain--if the park rangers don't freak out.)
However, there could be other places far enough away from the maddeningcrowds to make for a fun time.
Haven't seen anything in the papers. Perhaps it's
better to organize something this way than getting crowded out on Ocean Beach. Ideas, anyone?
Anyone in reach of the Bay Area interested in starting something or can recommend a gathering? Please post a follow-up, or. . .
Drop me an e-mail at my work address (I don't have a home one up yet) with your phone number and we'll see about doing something worth remembering!
