I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas to solve
my lifeless hair problem. Length is currently 4 or 5 inches
below my shoulders and basically all one length. I've tried
a few products (volumizing shampoos, mousse, etc.) but
without much luck. Any ideas or suggestions? How about
a style suggestion that would solve the problem? Thanks
in advance for any help.
I don't have any experience of hair this long, but I have had lifeless and thick coarse hair all my life. I have a regular perm to help give my hair some movement and body - biggest problem I have is that it drops out very quickly. You could speak to your stylist about a perm to see if it would give the effect you want - there are different types - root perms where just the hair at the root is covered in perm lotion to give the root a lift, a weave perm where only some sections of hair are permed and others are left alone, a body perm where the hair is permed on larger than normal rods, or a standard perm or even a spiral perm (I am sure this list is not exhaustive).
Let us know how you get on or what you decide - I would be interested since I have a similar problem to you, and hope one day to have hair your length.

Ever try a hot oil treatment? You can always put warm olive oil on
your hair (but not your scalp), wrap your hair underneath a shower
cap, or put it in a braid or bun. Putting a hot towel over your
hair would help more but isn't necessary. Wait for a while (even
overnight if you want), and then generously shampoo your hair when
you're ready to wash it. This could make your hair look alot better.
