any of you guys know of any sites on the web devoted to sideburns? i like to keep mine long and angled but have a dickens of a time keeping all the angles straight and even.
thanks!

Hi mjtoo,
Well, it isn't specifically just-sideburns, but there is a section on them at www.beards.org This site also has helpful links to other pages that deal with facial hair, grooming and otherwise.
I've included a specific link that'll take you directly to the sideburns page below.
Hope that helps! :-)
i had a stylist once who was of the opinion that guys are just incapable of cutting sideburns straight. something about angle of the mirror and height of eyes relative to the cut line, she had it all worked out. of course, not that many woman need to trim their own sideburns.
I just remembered why I grew my hair in the first place after reading your post. I was 14 and I was shaping my side burns. Because of that, it ended up all crooked and messed up. I decided to grow my hair so it'll hide it, but it's been seven years and I still haven't cut my hair except for the occasional trims which only happened about 2 times. Thank god for that stupid mistake!
I too would like to know if a stylist or anyone else has a site
for sore sideburns, etc. The Texas guy's site referred to elsewhere
seems to be just for guys who perfer being very fuzzy -- extreme
beards, etc.
For myself, I'm more interested in how to adjust my long, pointy red
sideburns to compliment my face, not obscure it. I agree that a site
that discusses what might work for different hair and face types,
and gave pointers on how to do it yourself, would be helpful.
Also like to see discussions and examples of goatee variations,
chevrons, etc. that guy are doing (what do you call that bottom of
the chin thing some people are trying now?).
For me, keeping any facial hair trimed and styled is the kind of
counterbalance to having long wavy hair. Probably because I still
get annoyed at being called m'am in checkout lines, but don't like
to carry around food in my follicles.
Any suggestions?
Tundra Tim
I call it a "chin caterpillar" or an "upsidedown moustache". Since this is a recent style, it probably does not have a "real" (ie. dictionary) name yet. (Some people probably call it a "goatee" though it is not.)
The "chin thing" you refer to is actually a goatee. Check your dictionary. The mustache/goatee combination that is so popular these days, which most people refer to as a "goatee," is actually a variation on a Van Dyke beard. Check the Beard/Mustache page if you need more info.
I saw one that looked like a shaving brush growing from the end of the chin and heard it referred to coarsely as a "____-tickler." I guess the name would vary depending on who's grown it. :)
