My hair is a bob about 3 inches below my ears my hair is straight
and pretty healthy. My favorite shampoo and conditioner is
definately Thermasilk moisturizing. It makes blow dryed hair feel like
silk. The problem is is that occasionaly Id say once a week or so
Ill have masive tangles and even with a wide tooth comb I cant prevent
ripping out some hair, and I think that it is also a major cause of frizzies.Does anybody have any special tricks? I have to wash it every day or it becomes an oil pit.Should I stop combing it after
I shower?or just live with tangles.
When this happens to me I work the tangles out with my hands (sometimes one hair at a time) before combing, it takes some time but it seems to help.
Boh
For really dense knots of tangle, I have had success opening
a safety pin and (as gently as possible) inserting the pin through the
tangle and then tug from side to side to loosen the tangle enough that
the fingers can continue the job.
Of course, the best solution is prevention, and so I have resort to this now only every few months or so.
Try this... when you get tangles, use a wide tooth comb to back-comb into the tangle, like you're teasing your hair. Don't do it fast, like teasing, but do back-comb into the mess you're trying to undo, then slowly, gently, comb the right way - from root to tips. Sometimes this helps a lot to ease tangles out of hair.
How are you getting these tangles? Is it anything you can prevent? For instance, wear a hat or headband if you're out in the wind... don't rub shampoo into your hair too much when washing it.
There are sites with good advice on combing and washing your hair, but basically... Comb *before* washing with that wide tooth comb. Start at the ends and gradually work up towards the scalp. Don't yank out the tangles - try to separate the hair with your fingers.
While washing your hair, just smooth the shampoo over the hair near your scalp. Don't try to work through the hair - and don't scrub like the short-haired guys on shampoo commercials do! :) Don't rub it dry, either - just press the towel against it. Comb through again.
I don't have any experience with blow-drying because that *always* made my hair look frizzy, but if that's when your're getting your tangles, maybe you need to watch the angle of the air blast.
A spray-on, leave-in conditioner might help, too. I often use one because it makes my hair less frizzy, but it also makes it easier to comb through.
