Hello Hairy People,
Quick introduction (for those who don't know or remember me):
My name is Ken, I'm 64. and I live in San Francisco, California. At one time I used to be one of the Moderators here (from '04 - '07, if I'm remembering correctly), during the time that Bill Choisser was the Chief Tech guy, Justin was the President of MLHH, and several of our current Moderators were also my fellow Longhairs-in-Crim (LOL)....
I also had the handle, "Longhaired Urban Cowboy" for quite awhile (before I decided to give myself the more boring name of "Ken in SF" - ROFL!!!)
Anywhoo, I still have long hair, has been at terminal length for many years, my last short haircut being on the first day of summer in Y2K. I recently asked my partner to please trim a few inches off the bottom, which I'm actually enjoying quite a bit right now, -- even though I miss saying that my hair is "belt-length" (it now only goes down to my lower back, but at least feels thicker & smoother, with definitely less split ends.
I think my silly long hair website still works -- although my old email address dos NOT....
(Which explains why I have to use a new email address at my work desk, since I have a broken computer at home... long boring story not worth narrating!)
"Why have you been so absent from MLHH, Ken?" you might ask. Well, unfortunately I've become a casualty of obsessing over watching too much News on TV, especially trying to make some sense out of all of the recent American political craziness from the past couple of years; but, rather than me go on & on about my least favorite U S President that now occupies the Oval Office (an understatement!), I'll just say: I need a BIG BREAK from listening to all of that CRAP!!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read my long-winded intro, and your patience with hearing my soapbox (LOL), -- and to Mark Hairball: I will try to call you back sometime this weekend!
"Onward & Downward!"
Long Lox 4 ever,
Ken
Ken !!
What a delight to see your name pop up this morning....you are much missed.
Don't try to make sense of today's political world....it will drive you mad.
Hope all is well in your world and please come back here often
Walter
Thanks Walter! Yes, I agree with your assessment of today's political world, very true words indeed!
Welkome back to the mlhh :)

Hi Mark,
I try to check in once in a while should do it more often.
My hair is still the same as last update in may, about shoulderblade length.
Im doing fine, just signed a contract with my job for unlimited time period :)
I will post an update soon!
Vincent
Hi Vincent,
So nice to see you post again! Do you have a current photo of your hair? I always loved seeing your hair when it was like your avatar! Hope you're doing well my friend!
Ted
Hi Ted,
My hair is a little bit longer then in my avatar, about shoulderblade length.
Will post an update soon.
Vincent
Hi Vincent,
I look forward to your update! Sounds like you have made great progress!
Ted
Hi Vincent,
Add me to the party of those who are very happy to see you stop on by, and of course I remember you from those "good old days"!
Take care,
David
Hi David,
Nice to hear from you as well, yes the good old days were a nice period on this board.
Vincent
Thanks so much Vincent!
Lovely to hear from you again, Ken. We have our own political problems in England and France, and everywhere else. Search for recent "Anthony" postings and you'll find my hair. Mine is about mid-back and the "leading" hairs can tickle the bottom of my back with my head tipped right back. Good to hear about yours and your life in SF. Keep the news coming...
Anthony
Thanks for your kind words Anthony! And yes, I would assume your mane is quite a bit longer by now that your avatar pic shows (LOL)!!
"Onward & Downward!"
Welcome back! I have missed your geezer comments.
LOL, great reply, I love it, thank you so much!
- Ken
Hey Ken,
Wow, its been sooooo long but great to see you back again :)
I will admit your participation has been missed so seeing your name pop up again was a treat!I trust you are doing well overall since I last saw you back in October of last year.BTW, did you finally finish all that fudge? LOL. That was certainly a fun day down at the SF pier.Looking forward to catching up with you soon so don't be a stranger.Anyway enjoy your weekend my friend and stop back again more often :) Cheers
Mârk
I agree with you Mark, that was definitely a fun day we spent down at Pier 39 -- and yes, I did finally finish all of that fudge (Eve even got to try a few bites of it as well - LOL)!!
Hi Ken,
It is so good to see you swing by here again. In fact, your post brought me out of the woodwork as well, and I have been almost totally absent from the hyperboard myself these days. Thank you for updating us and letting me know how you've been doing.
As for myself, I stepped down as moderator a couple of years ago, and my hair has remained more or less the same for several years now. At least it has maintained its thickness, and I'm quite content with its current length.
Thank you for stopping in, and please don't be a stranger. I need to be less of a stranger as well.
Take care,
David
Goodness !
Another voice from the past !! Good to see you here, David.....please do not be a stranger.
Walter
Hi Walter,
It is always a pleasure to hear from you. I admit that I don't post much on the hyperboard these days, but Ken's post brought me out of the woodwork, so to speak.
I will do my best to stop on by more often, and my best to you always.
Take care,
David
Are you getting out and enjoying the golf course? Isn't it interesting that you are retired, yet as busy as ever with life? Hope you are doing well.
Carol
Hi Carol,
So very nice to hear from you, and thank you for asking about me. I'm keeping myself busy, and golf almost every day during the warmer months. During the colder months, I like to walk, and am fortunate enough that there is a nice walking trail near my home.
I hope that things are going well for you these days as well.
Take care,
David
Things are as well as they can be. Getting more work done on the townhouse I bought over 2 years ago. It was cheap because it needed work.
Take care!
Carol
Thanks for the kind words David -- and yes, I need to stop by here more often... It's good for the soul (as well as for the hair)!
- Ken
Well if you were Fred Mertz you would still have belt length hair.
Fred Mertz... Now that's a name I don't hear very often!! Watching old I LOVE LUCY episodes still makes me laugh -- in some cases, it's as if I'm watching it for the very first time!
If it wasn't for Lucille Ball I would not have met my wife.
Star Trek was first produced by Desilu studios, Lucille Ball went to bat to save the show.
In 1982, my wife was president of our local Star Trek club, the group was putting flyers in packets for freshmen as the start of the school year at college. That is where I met her, in 1987 we were married and all these years later we are still married.
Hello back atcha Ken!
Good to hear from you again.
Myself, I have been preoccupied with other things and have not been on the MLHH board often.
Good to see the long locks farm is thriving!
- Oren
Hey Oren,
So great to hear from my favorite long-bearded long-haired red head!!!
Yes, I'm still busy hair farming, and still loving every minute (and every inch!) of it!
"Onward & Downward!" (or maybe more accurately, "Onward & Onward!" - LOL)
Nice to see you drop by. I don't drop in often myself. Last I remember with you, your partner lost his disability and you mentioned that a lawyer was working to get it reinstated. I do hope that has been all resolved, and everything is good now.
I am seeing some other old timers dropping by, always nice to see long time members - hear how they are doing, and how the hair journey has progressed. And welcoming newbies, many from other countries.
Don't be a stranger. Stop by to just say "hi" and that all is well.
Carol
Carol, you have an excellent memory!
Yes, my partner did win his case (thanks to the lawyers); so now his Disability benefits have returned -- which is a huge financial relief and help.
I will try not to be such a stranger to these hairy parts of our beautiful planet, as I've missed coming here myself!
Hi Ken,
Add me to the chorus of voices expressing how good it is to see you back here. Perhaps we could get a photo update now that your hair has been trimmed. I still go back and forth over trimming myself.
Jason
Thanks Jason! I don't yet have a recent enough photo to give you; but, eventually I'll get my act together about that... it doesn't necessarily look all that much "shorter", just a little bit tidier (from the back).
Yeah, I can relate to your comment about "going back and forth over trimming" -- I had fun growing my hair out to terminal length, and keeping it that way for quite a long time: but just felt "in the mood" to trim it a few inches shorter (I had been thinking about it for a long time before actually following through with it). My partner was worried I might have a delayed reaction (similar to what happened when I cut it short back in Y2K); but no, it just wasn't a significant enough length missing to make me feel worried or weird afterwards, so no worries!
Thanks again,
Ken
Up is down, left is right, the earth might be flat (they say), but Ken is still Ken!
All is now right again! Welcome back! You and everyone else have dragged me out of my hidey hole.
Bruce
Ha ha, well said Bruce and I will add great seeing you back here as well! I'm hoping the trend continues as it was sad seeing the board idle for days on end.Welcome home my friend:) Cheers
Mârk
Thanks Mark, good to hear from you too. Maybe we can keep this going.
Bruce
Hi again Ken,
So nice to hear from you again! Glad you're doing fine and keeping busy! About that broken computer...wish I was there so I could fix it or get you up and running again. But about politics...well, I won't go there! I don't really like to discuss politics with people. Although like you, I love(?) watching all the news channels and listening to talk radio. I guess I just like to hear all the different viewpoints.
About me: well, I cut my hair again this past October like a dummy. So now I'm finally showing some length again. But a far cry from where I was! Will I ever learn? I sure hope I have! I can't wait to get to the 2 year mark again! I'm still going to dialysis 3 times per week. They took me off the transplant list because my heart is too weak for the operation. So hopefully I can improve that situation. I haven't been in the hospital for a good while now(knocks on wood). I haven't felt sick in a good while either(knocking on wood again). So life is good as it always is!
but I would love to see a pic of your hair how it looks now! I just love your hair color and your handsome face! I wonder if I could get you to oblige me? Heck, I might even post a current pic of my ugly mug and short hair! Anyway, please be good to youself my friend and take care!
Ted
