It’s great to see our new version of the MLHH, and congratulations to the team for doing such an excellent job. I got a note from Jesus Forain yesterday that the new site was live, and encouraging me to post a couple of photos as well.
I hope that this works, since this is my first attempt trying to post in this new version of the site.
As a 72 year old guy, I’m quite happy to have a reasonably full head of hair. I have two photos here, one showing my hair in a middle part, and another, taken a few weeks ago, with more of a side part, after I did a small dusting trim to even up the ends.
Hopefully, our new site will thrive, and become more active as more members discover the improvements.
I guess that didn’t work. The photos seemed to load fine with no error, and they were within the file size as well. However, when I posted, they didn’t show up. I must have done something wrong.
As a correction, I figured out what I did wrong, just one more step that I didn’t do the first time.
The edit function here is very useful!
Good morning David,
Looks like your one of the first to use the new and improved mlhh so congratulations! This was certainly a work in progress and labor of love thanks to Jesus Forain for offering to do this upgrade. I in no way am a tech guy so his offer to do this was a gift to this site and hopefully will keep it alive for current and future longhairs to use and enjoy. There are many of these types of groups on Facebook but I always wanted to keep the mlhh as a stand alone website.
On another note your pictures are excellent as for 72 what a gift to be able to maintain such length and hair quality. I'll be 64 in around another month and am grateful to have all my hair still. Looks like you got the hang of the new site as I have yet to attempt to start my own thread.Anyway welcome aboard to the new mlhh as I too hope this helps to increase activity here.Hoping otherwise all has been well with you and that your maintaining good health as you continue to enjoy retirement as I joined that club almost two years ago myself.Cheers my friend.

Hi Mark,
First of all, thank you for your kind words, and I’m certainly happy to be able to maintain a good head of hair at my age. Although it’s at terminal length now, I’m happy that I have a good hairline. I do dusting trims every few months, to keep the ends in good shape.
I agree that Jesus did an excellent job with the site, and it’s good to have the tech skills that he has. Actually, he was the one who told me that the new site was active.
Lately, I have been posting over on Reddit, on a men’s long hair community called FierceFlow. It’s very active there, and Jesus Forain is a member over there as well. He replied to one of my posts with a message about the new site, and encouraging me to post some photos.
It took me a little while for me to establish my account and password, and also how to post photos, but I eventually figured this out on my own, and I found that having the edit function when making posts was very useful, since my first attempt failed, and I eventually figured out what I did wrong and was able to add the photos later.
Hopefully, others will discover this site. That might be a bit of a tall order, since most people post elsewhere now, but I’m hoping, with time, that more former members come on board.
Thanks for asking about me, and I’m doing well. I hope that your health remains good as well.

Hi David,
Interesting about that Reddit site you mentioned which I never heard of until you referred to it. I assume it works similar to the mlhh but not its own website if it works through reddit, which I never used frankly. I know there are several on Facebook and who knows where else these sites end up on so lots of competition.Good thing Jesus helped us modernize the mlhh as it was sorely needed. Kind of wonder how Bill Chossier would feel about the update since he wrote the original code with the exception of what it was like in the 1990s. I haven't checked yet but wonder if the chat room is still on the new format.I was used some when Bill first added it years ago but never got much use in the ladder years. It was kind of klunky to be honest as it didn't have good flow.
Other than that I'm looking forward to the spring as I'm so done with winter here.I need to travel more but kind of tied down at the moment taking care of my senior cat.I can only disappear a couple days at at time since he needs to be medicated.Aside from that I'm loving being retired no longer doing the daily grind. Have a great day David and looking forward to seeing you, as well as others, more here in the future.

Hi Mark,
I don’t do Facebook, X, or TikTok, but the nice thing about Reddit is that privacy is protected a lot better than on the other social media sites, and even the user names are generic, although they can be changed. Jesus recognized me for my photos that I posted there, rather than my username, which I can’t remember for the life of me anyway. The site actually manufactures a user name when you create an account.
I know from looking at the new MLHH site, that there are a few things that may need adjusting, but it’s something that will take time. Some of the links listed on the left no longer work, and there may need to be some adjustments to the FAQs, since it does say that no login is necessary. I find it better to use the login feature, since it remembers my username, and even puts a little caption on the photos that I post.
If you’re on FB, and have some long haired friends there, you may wish to point out our new site to them, which will help in the publicity, and help it to become more visible.
I’m all set for Spring as well, and it has been an even worse winter here than in your part of the world. I don’t travel these days, just preferring to stay close to home.
Take care,
David
Hi Mark,
I realized that I just replied to you and forgot to log in first, so am not sure what will happen to my original reply. It might be a good idea to update the FAQ’s on the left about the need to login. I prefer to login myself, since it works better when posting photos.
I don’t use the usual social media sites like FB, X, or TikTok. However, i started using Reddit, since I like the way that it protects privacy, better than other social media sites. Usernames are manufactured when you create an account, although one can change them. Jesus only recognized me after seeing some photos that I posted over there.
As for the MLHH, it might be a good idea for you to point it out to more of your friends who are interested in long hair, to help with the visibility. I’m sure that once more guys see the new design, that they will become more involved here.
Besides the login thing that I mentioned, it might be worthwhile to update the FAQs, as well as check the links listed on the left for non working links. That’s something that may take a bit of time, though.
Like you, I am tired of winter, and it’s been harsher than usual around here, worse than in your area. I don’t travel, preferring to stay close to home, and circumstances now are a bit different than they were in the past, especially for travel to the USA. I’m thankful to have a nice walking trail close to home.
Take care
David
Good Morning David,
When I checked into the mlhh this morning I saw your reply held in the queue so I approved it and now see it here in your thread. I'll have to reach out to Jesus as there is lots of obsolete information carried over from the old site.Just look at the crew page as its quite evident but I never tested the links so I can imagine many are dead ended due to their age.
I did go over to Reddit and checked out their longhair page, which seems well done, but in a way lacks the personal touch we have here at the mlhh.Back in the day, when this site was hopping, guys would talk not only about their hair but interests outside of our mission so we sort of got to know one another on a more personal level. We also had the chat room but don't think that carrier over as I don't see it. I am on Facebook and know there are plenty of similar sites there too.I know FB can be suspect at times but I've kept in contact with several old mlhhers who don't really post here anymore so I'll have to let them know about the new mlhh.
I hear you about travel as I get older I'm less motivated to do big trips.I definitely recall our one and only meetup in northern NJ when you were returning from one of your US road trips.I vividly remember meeting you in the parking lot of the restaurant we met at and our time together. I'd like to go to California again as I haven't been there since 2019 to visit my brother. Sadly many of our old friends from the mlhh that live out there have passed away.In that respect it would be quite different going back.
Anyway great catching up with you David as I hope the new site brings people back again.Have a great day my friend.

Hi Mark,
Yes, it was a genuine pleasure meeting you all those years ago, and I’ve also met with Jason a few times, and attended his wedding as well. Hopefully, Jason will discover the new site in the near future, and will stop on by to update us.
I guess I never felt the need for FB, and have heard some horror stories about it, but I know it works well for a lot of people, so my feelings about FB are in the minority.
I agree about the more homey feel of the MLHH, and I hope that there are other former members of the MLHH who feel the same. I do like Reddit, but it’s still not the same as the hyper board, the first place I ever joined that discussed long hair.
I admit that I never used the chatroom, but there were some former members who used it extensively. Of course there was Bill, and another former member that was around then was Chris G, and he was very active there. I wonder whatever happened to ChrisG, by the way?
Thanks again, Mark, for all your work keeping the site going, and of course, thank you to Jesus Forain as well.
David
Hi,
I had fixed some bugs since the update.
It's nice to see that since the update the site becomes more active and we even have new members. It was a lot of work to make this new website, I had to write programs to parse all messages and insert them in a database. I've used my website about fun-fairs (https://www.turbo-kermis.fr/) as template so, no need to start from scratch and I saved time.
I'm not a web designer so, I did my best. I think that we need a better banner and a logo for the site, if someone know an artist it’ll be great.
About obsolete information, I just did a copy paste from the old website and it needs to be updated. I let Mark decide this.
I was a little forced to use Facebook because everybody use it. But in 2022, it started to show only ads and suggested pages so, I rarely go on Facebook. All these “social media” killed forums and personal website and now social media had become crap with bad algorithms and lot of IA content. Now, I'm using Reddit, it's not really a social media because it's oriented to discussion themes like old forums.
I prefer website like the MLHH, more freedom, no algorithms, no ads and not controlled by bots.
Hi Jesus,
I want to give you a tip of the hat for doing such an excellent job revamping our site. With anything new, there will be growing pains, that’s to be expected, but I know that with time, everything will work well.
As Mark already said, there’s a more “homey” feel to this site than there is on typical social media sites, and I’ve never been interested in FB. I like Reddit because there’s a good amount of activity there, and there’s a greater degree of privacy over there as well, with more or less anonymous user names unless one chooses to change them. Obviously, you use your real name over there, but I choose not to.
With time, I’m sure that more people will discover the MLHH.
David
Hi David,
Your hair looks amazing. I hope my hair looks so good when it's long! I am also really enjoying the new MLHH site, it's a huge upgrade to the original. One thing I notice is that the archive of posts is currently MIA, but hopefully it will reappear in the future. Hopefully more people will discover and/or rediscover this site and it becomes more active again. I also go to the Reddit groups you mentioned, but this site is more intimate and more of a community, which I appreciate.
Thanks for posting your pics, they are an inspiration to keep growing long hair, and confirms that long hair can look amazing at any age!
Philip
Hi Philip,
Thank you so much for your kind words, and I feel fortunate to have the hair that I have at my age, and I count my blessings every day.
I’m sure that your hair will look awesome as you grow it longer and longer, and I’m glad that I could inspire you. You have great hair to work with, and that’s a good thing.
I know that there are a few kinks to iron out with the site, but after all, it’s young, and there are always growing pains. I know that it can only get better and better with time, and I hope that more guys will discover it and bring it back to full glory.
David
Great to hear from you and nice head of hair you’ve got there!
Hi Vincent,
It’s great to see you back, and that you’ve discovered our improved version of the MLHH.
Thank you for your kind words about my hair as well, and I count my blessings every day, and am very thankful to have decent hair as well.
Hopefully, you still have your long hair, and will be sharing an update with us as well.
Thank you!
David
Awesome hair, dude!
Hi Cicero,
Thank you for your kind words!
David
