Just sitting in a hospital working remotely and visiting my wife :) Here is a quick 20 month update from a buzzcutt. Take care all!!

I was looking for a good hair conditioner on Amazon and came across a product for horses (yeah, that's right - horses) call Eqyss Mega-Tek. It is formulated to grow longer manes and tails on horses and to prevent hair breakage. It appears that a lot of people are using it for faster hair growth on themselves and it has a lot of positive reviews. At first I thought they were crazy, but as I read more and more of the reviews I began to wonder if they were onto something. I was just wondering if anyone here has tried it.

Thanks so much for all the help, guys! You're right: there is no better time to grow my hair long than now, so I need to man up and just grow it. I've come to realize that I can't just tell them what I feel, but I think I can make a compromise that could actually work. This time, I won't back down on this. Wish me luck, and I'll post the results of my compromise when I have time to do it!

"you've got too much hair on your head"

That is a quote from 1968 from George Wallace. It seems that in
2016 a reality TV star is running a campaign for president that
duplicates George Wallace from 1968.

After the ridiculous mistake of getting a "trim" and some layers a couple months ago (that turned out to be four inches off when it was all done!!), I've been growing it again. I would so love to flash forward a year! Very jealous of some you guys on here!

My goal length is just below my shoulders.

Hi all,
I am 40 years old and growing my hair out for the first time. I'm a little vain so the awkward phase is a little difficult for me, to be honest. I shaved my head in march and have not had a hair cut since. My hair is straight, except for around the ears and the back, that is very wavy. I comb my hair straight back, so eventually, I'd like to do the pony tail thing. What is driving me nuts is, first, I'm starting to get the whole mullet thing going on, and second, since my hair is wavy back there, it looks like s**t. I know I should not cut it and just let it go, but is there anything I can do to make it look less s**tty? I only care because of employment reasons. If anyone has any tips or tricks, I'd love to hear. Thank you!

...when your daughter travels all the way from Boulder, Colorado to the Land of Oz to visit for her winter break. And especially when some of the photos of you having fun with her also manage to convey your progress in 'hair farming.'

Here gazing out to sea at Byron Bay, NSW...

In fact I would like to see a lot more long haired guys in indie/dark wave/shoegaze/Dream Pop/Ethereal Wave/post punk bands a LOT more often.

I wonder if this is a new trend(hope so) as more metal guys seem to be wearing it rather short or shaved bald these days?

anyway, this is a cold wave/ethereal wave/Dream Pop band from Paris

hope you like! ;-)

What do you all think of the perfectly straight across blunt trim look on men? It seems to be a style more common on women than men, but it looks cleaner and more polished, thoughts?

Hello long haired friends !! I have some very exciting news that I have been meaning to relay to the board. My wife, Melinda, is will be giving birth to twins very very soon ! We are so excited. We are having having a boy and a girl, and have names picked out. Out son will be named Finley Charles Brands, and our daughter will be named Rowan June Brands. We are hoping for a red head as it runs on both my side of the family as well as my wifes. I will definitely encourage my son to grow his hair if that is the path that he chooses. My wife is currently in Dallas where she is on strict bedrest. I work in the IT field and have been working from home during the week where I watch my stepdaughter. I visit my wife on the weekends to cheer her up. I hope everybody has a GREAT HOLIDAY no matter your personal beliefs, and I will keep you updated on my hair growth saga :) Take care !!

Hi, wanna share some pix showing my hair. I prefer undercut hairstyle since my hair is curly and the best way (for me) to wear it is to have long on the top and shaved sides. I also wear segmented ponytail , this is how I can keep my hair in place, so from the practical point of view it is the best option and it is easier to do than braiding it.
Have a great holiday

Hey, men with long hair,
I'm suffering from hair loss and was wondering does anyone know what stage I am in?
Also, do you think it's somehow going to grow back without medicine or am I f**ked? It seems like my hair has come to an end, though.
My dad is mostly bald.

First off, his hair is NOT long and WHO is she to tell him to get a haircut when her hair is long herself. seems a bit hypocritical for a chick who likes hers long to tell a dude to get his clipped short, doesn't it?

lets turn the tables. suppose he had mid-back length hair and told her she should get a super short crop and her hair was barely over her ears.

have any of you guys had issues especially with women with long hair suggesting you get a short haircut?

Update on Son's Hair

My son will be four next month. My wife has trimmed the back of his hair a little bit from time to time and a few other spots have needed attention due to excessive tangling. Other than that, itÂ’s pretty much untouched.

On quite a regular basis I ask him if he wants it cut and he always says he doesnÂ’t. IÂ’ve continued to emphasize to him that he can have his hair any way he wants it. HeÂ’s remarked on a couple occasions that he wants his as long as mine so weÂ’ll just have to see. He usually wears it loose but heÂ’s also had full ponytails, half ponytails and braids.

He wonÂ’t start kindergarten until 2017. Things might be harder for him when he starts actual school. It could test his resolve to keep it long but that will be choice he will have to make. The present daycare environment doesnÂ’t contain any pressure against having long hair from other kids. In fact, there are a couple boys that have hair longer than his.

HeÂ’s quite proud of his hair and gets compliments all the time. Of course, I sometimes have to correct strangers who mistake him for a girl. HeÂ’s into all things that boys typically are and his clothing consists of colors typically worn by males so that helps cut down on the mistakes somewhat.

I'm just glad that as a father, and with my wife's full approval, I can offer him complete hair freedom. It was something I was denied.

I have been asked a handful of times recently including today, "why did you grow hair out if I only wear it in a ponytail?" And to be honest the question bugged me at first, perhaps because I questioned myself. After all, I am definitely a ponytail guy at this point in time; I probably wear it like that 80-90% of the time. Why did I grow it to wear it in a ponytail? But as I thought through it I came up with this answer:
First, I couldn't wear a ponytail if I hadn't grown it long.
Second, a ponytail definitely does not look like short hair. And I like how it looks.
Third, and perhaps most important, it definitely does not feel like short hair. It brushes against my shoulders and has will of its own, and is far more interesting than my buzz cut ever was.
I think that this applies regardless of how you wear your hair. So what if you prefer to wear the same style everyday, choose to wear it up all the time in a bun or loose, or change it up every 5 seconds. It isn't the same as anything else, and you definitely couldn't d that with short hair. So tomorrow, having thought things through, I will be proud and pleased to wear my hair anyway I want, even if it is a "boring" ponytail.
Thanks for reading. And best of luck growing!
